Posted on Jul 22, 2021Tips that might help a recent episode of back pain
Try the following tips to help reduce your pain and speed up your recovery:
- Try to remain carefully active. This is very important. Even if the pain is moderately severe, try to carefully move.
- Use a cold compression in the first few days then a warm compression. We stock ice packs at our Solihull and Dorridge clinics.
- Take anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen. You must check with your GP or pharmacist that it is safe for you to take anti-inflammatory medication.
- Try regular exercise and stretches when you are able. Walking, swimming, yoga and Pilates are all good options.
If your pain persists, gets worse or is too severe it is advisable to see a health care professional specialising in spinal care.
