Posted on Sep 26, 2024It was 30 years ago that the Chiropractors act was passed by Parliament. This is the legislation that founded the GCC and professionalised chiropractic by underpinning the regulation of chiropractors in the UK. It was said to be the longest ever Private members Bill to be enacted, with all-party support and the support of the medical profession.
David Lidington (now Sir David), who introduced the bill, commented at the time:
'In future, no one will be able to fix a brass plate to his or her gatepost with the title 'chiropractor' unless they have appropriate training to provide safe and competent chiropractic treatment'.
